Profile for Ronaldinho

Ronaldinho Gaucho is the last ambassador of the “jogo bonito” (beautiful playing). World champion with Brazil national team, Nike’s image on earth and successor of the great Pele… Ronaldinho has proved to be an absolutely-skillful-with-the-ball player who likes to have fun and make people enjoy his favorite activity: playing soccer.

You can tell soccer runs through Ronaldinho’s veins. Joao, his father, was a big fan of “futevol” (the brazilian football) who got to play in the professional league when they were still living in a favela. His brother Richard would had his chance in professional soccer too. He made it very well in Gremio club and became an international player as well as Ronaldinho’s idol.

However, when he was only eight, his father drawned in the pool the club just gave them. A tough moment only soccer and the relatives’ love could relief.
Ronaldinho used to play 24/7 looking forward to prove his father right. He once told him: “You’ll be the best”.

Once he joined the young división of Gremio, Ronaldinho improved his technique and with only 17 he made his debut in the main team. That’s when his brother Roberto retired from soccer and became his guide, helping him and giving him advine. Being a manager and a father. That year he lead Brazil to win the World cup sub-17, and he was the top scorer and the best player in that tournament.

Back in Brazil, European clubs’ offers rushed to his door. PSV Eindhoven and Paris Saint Germain attemped to hire him and after a long battle, the French club got the prize. It was year 2000 and Brazil was the Champion of America. In that tournament, he scored an artistic goal that make everybody have him compared to Pelé.

In PSG Ronaldinho became a steady soccer player. Always supported by his family and showing his smile, he astonished the French fans and convinced Brazil’s coach to leave Romario on the beach to take him to Korea – Japan World Cup in 2002. And Gaucho didn’t let him down. His technique and agility went beyond countries and cultures. Brazil got the First place and Ronaldinho painted another outstanding goal to England.

But in Europe, the relationship with his coach in PSV, Luis Fernandez went very wrong. So, in summer of 2003 Ronaldinho was on sale: Manchester United, Barca and Real Madrid fought to get him. Laporta and his partners were smarter and took him to the Camp Nou. Ronaldinho was then the mediactic star proised by the new president of Barcelona. A different player who dances samba on the field. A surprising striker who invents, passes, scores… without ever losing his smile.
