Brazil beat New Zealand in the Olympics with Ronaldinho's double

Ronaldinho Gaucho delighted his legion of fans, scoring twice as he led Brazil to an untroubled 5-0 win over minnows New Zealand in an Olympic men's football game here Sunday.

Indeed, the Brazilian captain and AC Milan player, a clear favourite with the large crowd, was at the heart of nearly every decisive move as New Zealand struggled to stay in the match.

The great win underscored Brazil's credential's as likely finalists and put them firmly at the head of Pool C as they changed up several gears from their uninspiring opener when they beat tough Belgium 1-0.

As for New Zealand, they were outclassed as Brazil scored in the third minute, led 2-0 at half-time and added three more goals after the interval.

"Dunga" said that they were very happy and satisfied with Ronaldinho "who is growing together with the team and for that all the delegations is really happy and satisfied with him."

He expressed that "people does not take into account that he has four months without playing, but every time he gets more confidence and rhythm so I trust the coming matches he will play like he knows."

"Today I felt very good at the field. I'm very happy because things went as I expected," Ronaldinho Gaucho admitted.

"I hope to continue like this till the end of the Olympics because I want to take the gold," Ronaldinho said. "since Sydney 2000 I have the desire of winning the gold medal."

"I am aware that it is my last chance and I hope to give all what I can, today I made two goals and hopefully God keeps me in this line," Ronaldinho said.

The victory against New Zealand side"(was) consequence of Brazil doing it better day by day and with all the sobriety demanded by this competition at the filed," Ronaldinho concluded.

New Zealand may be a almost amateur team, but the AC Milan footballer was no less pleased for his two-goal haul.

"It's a special day," he admitted in Qinhuangdao. "Because of everything which has happened, because of my performance, because we qualified."

In fact, praising the near-45,000 crowd at the Shenyang Olympic Stadium, he added, "The atmosphere here is great and that helps a lot."

According to the CBF, Ronaldinho Gaucho was too emotional to add further remarks.

As for midfielder Lucas, he said, "Ronaldinho deserves it, he's a great player and a great person."
